1 - Canada Post changes

Last week we were informed that, come September, the Glass Shop on Bardin St will no longer be offering Canada Post services.

We want to thank Sabine Neusch for long having hosted postal services here in Victoria, at her shop. We are now working with Canada Post to find the next solution for how residents will receive and send their post.

Are you Victoria’s next Canada Post dealer? If you are interested, please contact us at victoriamunicipalitypei@gmail.com in the next 2 weeks to discuss. The most important criteria are:
1 - being able to provide 24-7 access to postboxes, and
2 - being open year-round for over-the-counter services.

Ultimately, Canada Post has the final decision on the type and locations of their services, rather than the RMV Council. However Canada Post do take care to actively consult, considering the advice and recommendations of local communities, before making their decisions.

2 - Altered Municipal Office Hours next week

Today (Thursday July 13) we need to close the office at 2pm due to unexpected appointments.

Next week, Marsha is taking some well-earned vacation, and to accommodate parental pickup-from-summer-camp responsibilities on Anna’s part, the municipal office hours will be 9am-2:45pm Monday 17th to Thursday 20th of July.

After that, we’ll be back to our regular public office hours: 9:30-3:30 with a break from 12-1.

3 - Water & Sewer Commission meeting Tuesday July 18

Hilary Price has been appointed to fill a vacancy on the Water & Sewer Commission - thank you Hilary for stepping forward, and thank you to Christina Wright for your service as you step off the Commission.

The Commission has received it’s audited financial statements for last year, and is ready to review the single bid (received from Island Coastal) for work on the Causeway Watermain project. The bid is within the Capital budget allocated for the project.

As such, the Commission will be meeting next week - on Tuesday 18 July at 3:30pm at the Schoolhouse - to discuss the bid and to review the financial statements, as well as some other administrative items.

The Agenda for the meeting will be posted to the Water & Sewer page on the website later this afternoon, for those who would like to attend. The Zoom link to join will be posted there shortly before the meeting begins, for any members of the public who would like to observe the Commission’s deliberations.
