The nominations for the position of one councillor closed at 2:00 p.m. today, Friday, May 12, 2023.

The following nomination has been received and nominated by five residents of the Rural Municipality of Victoria

Councillor:

McCARDLE, JEAN ELIZABETH — ACCLAIMED

Jean McCardle is acclaimed to fill the vacant councillor position as no other nominations were received by close of nomination process.

As this position has been filled by acclamation, the by-election scheduled for May 29th has been cancelled.

Notice of Nomination Proceedings

Pursuant to the Municipal Government Act

Public notice is hereby given to the electors of the Rural Municipality of Victoria that a Municipal By-Election will be held on Monday, May 29, 2023 to elect one councillor for the Rural Municipality of Victoria for the term of office of this council terminating on December 1, 2026.

The nomination period for the councillor position commences on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 and closes on Friday, May 12, 2023.

Nominations shall only be received during office hours at the election office:
Victoria Election Office - located at 730 Victoria Road, Victoria

Election office hours:
Tuesday, May 2 & Wednesday, May 3 - 3:00-6:00 p.m.
Tuesday, May 9 & Wednesday, May 10 - 3:00-6:00 p.m.
Friday, May 12 - 9:00 a.m-2:00 p.m

The deadline for correcting elector information shall be no later than 11:59 a.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2023.
